K-9 Working Dogs

K-9 Working Dogs

The mission of our K-9 Club is to promote this hobby in Pakistan to produce the most highly trained canine disaster search teams in the nation.  The job of these teams is to find people buried alive in the wreckage of natural disasters and terrorist attacks. The training continues with the K-9 team meeting as a group every week. The dogs are beginning to specialize in different areas as each K-9 discovers its talents. We look for each dog’s strengths and concentrate on developing those skills.

Our members’ work several times a week with their K-9 partners to fine-tune each skill set such as Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Retrieving and Searching. Dogs have been indispensable throughout history as helpers. Dogs are trained to follow a track of human scent and crushed vegetation using their magnificent nose. The intense loyalty of dogs to people means that they can be trained to carry out missions under conditions of great danger.

In Germany people raise dogs with a purpose to train it as an operational SAR canine. These pets trained as canine have taken part in world’s major SAR operations along with their handlers. For instance Die Johanniter dog teams have been credited for several deceased victims find and live finds.
