Ruthless floods hit Pakistan
Amidst annual Monsoon season, an estimated population of 33 million people has been affected by the recent wave of torrential rains and consequent flooding. Reportedly, in Sindh province, every bit of land seems under water. Over 2 million Acres of crops destroyed, 214 bridges collapsed, 40 small dams got swept away, around a million houses damaged, 200,000 houses completely destroyed and millions of livestock gone across the country.
Our members and volunteers at Pakistan Relief / PRIDEA are devotedly joining hands to bring some ease in the lives of those affected.
We are monitoring the situation closely and our ERT is distributing Mosquito Nets and Hygiene Kits as an initial intervention. We realize that due to the continuous exposure to flood water mixed with extremely contaminated sewerage and drainage water there is lingering risk of Cholera and Skin diseases. Although mosquitoes are not abundant at the moment, but large pools of water could easily become hatcheries and sanctuaries for triggering Dengue / Malaria, in next few days. They are in urgent need of support. Any little contribution could do a lot, donate generously to help those in need.
